Small-mid-scale LNG Ships and Bunker

GAS Entec is the world standard in engineering for small- and mid-scale LNG floating assets and other applications.

Through the years, we have gained expertise in cargo containment, handling and gas supply systems for floating LNG terminals, LNG bunker vessels and ships using LNG as a fuel.

GAS Entec partners with shipyards to perform full EPC for small LNG ships and floating units. Our scope includes:

  • Basic ship designs with detailed specifications
  • Detailed designs in collaboration with the shipyard
  • Ship construction and class approval supervision
  • Shipyard test and commissioning
  • Onsite test and commissioning

Small-scale LNG vessels are LNG carriers with capacity typically lower than 30,000 m3. LNG distribution through these small ships enables wider LNG adoption in stranded markets. These small carriers make island and riverine countries like the Philippines, Indonesia, and Vietnam more accessible.

GAS Entec is a leading provider of small- and mid-scale LNG infrastructure, including Floating Regasification Units (FRU). We offer our customers access to the engineering talent that has designed multiple industry firsts, including the world’s first small-scale FRU, installed at Benoa Port in Bali, and the first operating bunkering vessel in the USA.

GAS Entec’s Floating Storage Units (FSUs) provide customers with the flexibility and scalability required for small or remote demand centers where onshore structures are not technically or commercially viable, or where there is insufficient space to build the necessary storage capacity. Our FSUs are a practical alternative, delivering a cost-efficient solution within tight schedules by utilizing existing and operating vessels where possible.

Our FSUs operate seamlessly with onshore regasification terminals or with FRUs, offering:

  • Flexibility to support onshore or offshore regasification units
  • Ability to relocate to new demand centers as needed
  • Utilization of existing vessels to reduce costs and speed execution

GAS Entec designs and builds (or converts from LNG carriers) Floating Storage and Regasification Units (FSRU) for small- and mid-scale LNG projects in dispersed or remote locations, such as islands and archipelagos, where demand is low, and an onshore terminal is not commercially viable.

Our FSRUs offer:

  • Access to LNG in challenging terrains
  • Smaller-scale solutions that eliminate unwanted capacity
  • Ability to moor at a jetty or wharf
  • Flexibility to relocate asset to new demand centers as required

Our Projects

Conrad-1

Clean Jacksonville 2,200 CBM LNG Bunkering Barge

GAS Entec performed basic detailed design engineering, pre-commissioning, testing and commissioning of the first LNG bunkering barge in the USA. The LNG bunkering barge provides LNG fuel to TOTE’s 3,100 TEU container ships and other LNG-fueled vessels in the Port of Jacksonville, Florida.

12,000 CBM LNG Bunker Vessel in Singapore

GAS Entec performed the full EPC of the Cargo Handling System (CHS) and Fuel Gas Supply System (FGSS) along with integrated engineering for CHS, membrane tanks and re-liquefaction units for a 12,000 cbm LNG bunker vessel, which is Asia’s largest LNG bunker vessel. The vessel was built in Singapore and has dual-fuel engines running on LNG or marine diesel oil for cleaner propulsion.

Tokyo Bay 2,700 CBM LNG Bunker Vessel

GAS Entec delivered a small-scale LNG bunkering ship for Tokyo Bay in Japan to provide wider flexibility to the LNG-fueled vessels in the port area. The design is suitable for areas with shallow water consideration. GAS Entec partnered with a few Japanese players to deliver a safe and environmentally friendly solution.
